Privacy Policy

Betterbase Studio, LLC ("Betterbase Studio," "we," "us," or "our") publishes the Font Maker application. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use Font Maker on an iPhone, iPad, or other supported Apple device, including its custom keyboard and Home Screen widgets.

1. Information you provide

Depending on the features you choose to use, Font Maker may process:

• Font content. Font names, alphabet selections, character drawings, drawing-stroke data, and PNG representations that you submit to create a font. The service returns generated font files and related download, permanent, or configuration-profile links.
• Design and sharing content. Text, colors, font choices, images, and related settings used to create designs, history items, clipboard content, widgets, or files you choose to share.
• Support content. Messages you send through the in-app Feedback feature and any information you voluntarily include in those messages.
• Purchase information. When you make or restore an in-app purchase, Apple processes the payment. We and RevenueCat receive limited product, transaction, subscription, purchase-history, and entitlement information needed to provide premium access. We do not receive your full payment-card number.

2. Information processed automatically

The app and the services it uses may process:

• A pseudonymous numeric user identifier generated by our backend. Font Maker does not require a public profile or a traditional username-and-password account.
• App version, iOS or iPadOS version, premium status, selected environment, request type and outcome, feature-interaction events, and usage counts.
• Device and app metadata, installation or app-instance identifiers, session information, diagnostic data, crash stack traces, relevant app state, and non-fatal errors.
• Country code, language, time zone, operating-system version, app and bundle identifiers, and similar configuration data used by Firebase Remote Config.
• Internet Protocol address and approximate location inferred from it by network, analytics, diagnostics, purchase-management, or infrastructure providers. Font Maker does not request precise location permission.

3. Information stored on your device

Font Maker stores created fonts, downloaded TTF data, font and profile links, character drawings and stroke data, design history, design text and images, preferences, language and theme choices, usage counters, premium state, and other app settings locally using Core Data, files, and UserDefaults.

The app also uses an Apple App Group container to make selected font files, keyboard font metadata and selection, premium-verification state, and widget text and rendered images available to the Font Maker keyboard and widget extensions. Local information generally remains until you delete it in the app where a deletion control is available, remove the app and its extensions, or erase the applicable device data. Apple may handle device backups or transfers according to your iCloud and device settings.

4. Font generation and backend services

Creating or updating a downloadable font requires the app to send a generated font identifier, your selected character PNGs, app version, Apple operating-system version, platform, and premium status to our backend. The backend processes this content to create the requested font and returns generated font data and related links. The app then downloads and stores the font on your device and, when applicable, in the App Group container for use by the custom keyboard.

Backend requests use HTTPS. Sensitive request bodies used for account, support, and font-generation workflows are additionally encrypted by the app before transmission. Locally saved drawings that you have not submitted for font generation remain on your device.

5. Custom keyboard and clipboard

Text entered within the Font Maker custom keyboard is held in the keyboard extension's memory so it can be previewed and rendered with your selected font. Font Maker does not send that typed text to our backend, Firebase, Mixpanel, Sentry, or RevenueCat. The keyboard reads the font files and selection stored in the shared App Group container.

When you choose Copy, the keyboard renders the text as an image on your device and places that image on the Apple system clipboard. The receiving app and Apple control how pasted clipboard content is handled. The main app may also place text on the clipboard when you explicitly use its copy feature.

6. Designs, widgets, and sharing

Designs saved to Font Maker history, including their text and rendered images, are stored locally in Core Data. Home Screen widget text is rendered into light and dark PNG versions on your device and saved in the App Group container for the widget extension.

When you choose to share a design, Font Maker creates a temporary image file and presents Apple's system share sheet. Your selected destination, such as Messages, Mail, AirDrop, Files, Photos, or another app, may receive and independently process that content under its own privacy practices. Font Maker does not automatically upload design text or images to our backend merely because you create or preview them.

7. Analytics, diagnostics, and configuration services

Production versions of Font Maker use the following service providers:

• Firebase Analytics for app-usage and interaction measurement, including automatically collected and developer-defined events.
• Firebase Crashlytics for crash reports, stack traces, device and operating-system information, relevant app state, and diagnostic breadcrumbs.
• Firebase Remote Config to deliver configuration values, feature limits, server routing, and paywall settings to app installations.
• Mixpanel for automatic and developer-defined product analytics, including feature events and properties such as premium status, environment, and request outcomes.
• Sentry for crash and error diagnostics in release builds, including stack traces and relevant device, app, and operating-system context.

8. Purchases and RevenueCat

Apple processes App Store billing and may provide us with limited transaction and subscription information. Font Maker uses RevenueCat to load available offerings, complete purchases, verify entitlements, and restore purchases. RevenueCat may process a pseudonymous app-user identifier, product and purchase history, subscription status, entitlement information, locale, currency, app and device metadata, and developer-defined attribution values describing where a paywall or purchase event occurred. Font Maker does not send RevenueCat your typed keyboard text, character drawings, or design images.

9. Advertising and tracking

Font Maker does not display third-party advertising. The current app code does not request App Tracking Transparency authorization or directly access Apple's advertising identifier. We do not sell personal information or use Font Maker data for cross-context behavioral advertising. Analytics and other providers may use app-instance or device-related identifiers for measurement, security, diagnostics, and service operation as described above.

10. How we use information

We use information to:

• provide, maintain, secure, and improve Font Maker;
• generate, download, install, render, and share fonts at your request;
• provide the custom keyboard, widgets, design history, and sharing tools;
• provide customer support and respond to feedback;
• process purchases, verify premium access, and restore eligible purchases;
• configure features and measure app performance and reliability;
• detect, investigate, and prevent errors, abuse, or security incidents; and
• comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.

11. How information is disclosed

We may disclose information:

• to hosting, backend, analytics, diagnostics, configuration, purchase-management, and customer-support providers that process it for us;
• to Apple for app distribution, purchases, subscriptions, refunds, and restoration;
• when you direct the app to copy, export, install, or share a font, profile, image, file, text, or link with Apple services or another app;
• when required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, or security; or
• as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards.

12. Retention and deletion

We retain server-side font-generation records, generated assets, support messages, pseudonymous identifiers, and associated technical records only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described above, to maintain the service, or to meet legal, security, accounting, and dispute-resolution obligations. Apple, RevenueCat, Firebase, Mixpanel, and Sentry retain information according to our settings and their documented retention practices.

You can delete individual fonts and history items through the app where those controls are available. Permanently deleting a font removes its local font and character records and prunes its shared keyboard file. Removing Font Maker and its extensions from your device generally removes local app-container data, subject to Apple backup and restoration behavior.

To request access, correction, or deletion of server-side information, email support@fontmakerapps.com. We may ask for reasonable information to locate the relevant pseudonymous record and verify the request. We will respond as required by applicable law and may retain limited information when legally permitted or required. Apple purchase records and refund requests are managed under Apple's policies.

13. Security

Font Maker uses HTTPS for backend requests and font downloads and applies additional application-layer encryption to sensitive backend request bodies. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, but no transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

14. Children

Font Maker is not directed to children under 13, or under the minimum age required by applicable law to consent to data processing. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

15. International processing

We and our service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we use recognized safeguards for international transfers.

16. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of certain information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a privacy regulator. To exercise a right, contact us using the address below. We will not discriminate against you for making a privacy request.

17. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Font Maker, its service providers, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy at this URL and update the effective date. Material changes may also be communicated in the app where appropriate.
